Opal is extremely intense, very sexy and emotional. I loved it. It is my favorite of the Lux series, so far.

Dawson is back and is missing Beth and not the same guy he once was. He and Katy bond and become close friends. Katy and Dee's friendship is strained. Not as engrossing as book 2, but not back to book one status for me either. Let's see:

A certain someone needs to die. Seriously, there is no justice in the Luxen world if Daemon doesn't get to go Bronx Tale in the next book - "Now, yous can't leave".

I really enjoyed the relationship progression with Daemon/Kat, but Daemon was a little too possesive at time. Dude, chill.

Um, that ending. I reject and embrace it. It could be really good or a mildly entertaining rehash of what we've been hearing abo Not as engrossing as book 2, but not back to book one status for me either. Let's see:

Those are pretty much my main thoughts after finishing book 3. Opal wasn't as exciting as book two. Even though things did move pretty fast, it was a bit too repetitive for me. Aside from the ending, I felt most of the action and surprises were there just because. We do find out some important things in this book though and I liked those things because they made me think, they made me recall things from the previous books and try to put it all together. I like when books do that.

As far as the characters go, Dee pretty much annoyed me for most of this book. I get it. She was hurt and upset. It all made sense on paper, but her attitude was such a turn off. I did like how Katy took responsibility for her dumb choices in the last book though. Another thing that bugged me about the writing for Dee was that I didn't really feel her loss. Dawson was pretty flat for me as well. I wasn't bothered by it given his place in the story though.

Now, lets talk about what really worked for me this book and why I gave it three stars. I really liked the developments between Katy and Daemon. I feel like their relationship has played out nicely despite the "connection" that was established in book one. The writing has me invested and I like where things are going. Sure, its your typical YA romance in a lot of ways, but it's well done and I'm looking forward to the next book.

Writing wise, Opal was pretty strong. There were a few parts (and I'm sure I don't even need to get specific) where the writing was lacking and I felt like I was left hanging. However, the plot flowed well for the majority of the story. Things ended on a great note and I hope the next book is as good as I think it can be! Please don't disappoint me. ...more

Let me start by saying Blake I hate you!!!! I tried to be compassionate and kinda forgiving (ok not really especially after what happen to Adam) but I did try. I was thinking maybe he did want to redeem himself somewhat......WRONG!!!!!! I truly hate him and wish nothing but bad things to happen to him!!!!!!!!! I do love this series! and now understand why everyone couldn't wait to read Origin when this first came out! luckily I have that book waiting for me!
