Ok...so I finished the book a few minutes ago and I'm now writing this review as tears stream down my face. Wow. It's such a great book. The writing style was very beautiful and I found that my eyes were glued to the book all the way. Just like The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and a few other tear-jerking books, clear your schedule for the whole day and just read the book. Just do it. Trust me, you'll thank me afterwards. You will only be able to really feel all the emotions put into this b Ok...so I finished the book a few minutes ago and I'm now writing this review as tears stream down my face. Wow. It's such a great book. The writing style was very beautiful and I found that my eyes were glued to the book all the way. Just like The Fault in Our Stars by John Green and a few other tear-jerking books, clear your schedule for the whole day and just read the book. Just do it. Trust me, you'll thank me afterwards. You will only be able to really feel all the emotions put into this book through the author's writing if you never take your eyes away from it. I, unfortunately, did not have the liberty to read the whole book at once. So, when everybody was asleep, I read Slammed into the wee hours of the morning until I could barely keep my heavy eyelids from nailing shut. And when I woke up, I just continued, forgetting about everything else I had to do. And no, I don't regret a thing.

I have to say, I love the quotes by The Avett Brothers at the beginning of the chapters as they give you a hint as to what might happen throughout the chapter. Whenever I finish the chapter, I would go back to the quote and try to, in a way, decipher it. Don't judge me! Anyway, I think I found one of my new favourite bands. I actually looked up songs of The Avett Brothers and most of the lyrics are really beautiful and have a hidden meaning. I have to admit, I like the lyrics more than the music though.

I loved the plot and the charcters. I always love books where the supporting characters have a so called "story of their own" in the book too. For example, Layken's mother wasn't just merely mentioned but she also had a story of her own going on in a way. The same thing goes with Eddie-who is by the way a girl. I liked that Colleens Hoover didn't leave Eddie out of all that was happening--which is what usually happens in most stories when the main characters have secrets which could be potentially dangerous--and how Eddie actually helped Lake. It added to the book's reality-like feel because usually when we have problems we are likely to always turn to a friend for help and advice, which is what happened in Slammed.

As for the main characters, Will and Lake, I feel that they were both very strong charcters who despite their struggles, were not self-centred and put the others first. I liked how the author portrayed the characters because she didn't make everything revolve around their romance and didn't make all the problems they had only based on their relationship. She made it very realistic because she wrote about their daily struggles and how everything can just change so suddenly and how they managed to overcome their obstacles. How they tried ro make their relationship work despite everything that occurred and all the problems they were facing.

The incidents that occurred in the story would have been-if not for the way the author wrote the book-obvious to happen. But when a new problem suddenly arose, I was in a state of shock because I did not see it coming at all. The author got me so caught up in other things in the book that we're going on in the book that I did not see the possibility of that happening. I always love books which surprise me as it makes me want to know more about what is about to occur.

Yet another thing I liked about this book is that it actually has good advice in it. Advice about life, love and struggles which is actually useful. I learned a lot from this book just like I did from The Fault in Our Stars. Books that give good advice also shows that the author herself is a person of wise words. I love so many quotes from the book as well. Not only The Avett Brothers' quotes but the ones by Colleen Hoover too.

Overall, the book was very touching and I am very, very sure I will re-read this in the near future. I can't wait to read the next book, Point of Retreat, which is by the way right beside me and get lost in Colleen Hoover's brilliant writing once again.

Oh my god so glad to finally read this wow i give this as many stars as you can and more i loved it from page one i cried cringed and kept thinking why and wow it was breath taking epic sad sweet loving gut wrenching i loved it is a defenite must read.
