I did enjoy this book. There was magic. Intrigue. Asassins. Certain Death. Good characters. My favorites were definitely Ari and Janco. Those two were so enjoyable and I loved their relationship with Yelena. Like protective older brothers, willing to risk their careers and their lives to help her and keep her safe.
I had some issues with pacing, as well as some glossed over facts, but a good start and I look forward to starting part two shortly.

Great look into a different aspect of long ago times that isn'tthe princess premise, but still knights saving in unconventional ways.

Just as good as Poison Study. Would highly recommend this series to anyone interested in magic books.

I picked this up at the library on a whim. Though the story was a bit predictable in parts, I enjoyed it overall. The writing was solid and it kept me entertained.
