DNF at 41% with the line: 'I felt myself getting lost in the heat of his gaze.'

It was the straw that broke the llama's back, but not the first, or even the worst one unfortunately. Many of this book's problems lie, like usual, in the world building.

I commend Larson for trying to build an original fantasy world. I do not commend her for what can only be a shoddy research job. This book takes place in the 'jungle' but it felt more like a caricature than a real place. Larson picked the five most c

Defy drenches us into a marvelous world of Sara B. Larson's imagination. This story is eloquently described giving us the feeling of really walking in Alex's (aka Alexa's) world.

This is a battle of good vs. evil, but what would you do if you discovered you fell on the wrong side of the war. Would you still honor your duty to protect the crown?

I actually really enjoyed this. If it wasn't for Alexa constantly pining over both guys I probably would have enjoyed it more. But for someone who spent three years of her life pretending to be a boy, Alexa had no problem mooning over two guys every chance she gets. And I mean EVERY CHANCE.
But like I said this is actually a pretty good read. And even with two guys vying for Alexa's attention, the love triangle didn't really last since Alexa made it quite clear that she felt
