After reading 'Underground Railway' I was somewhat reticent to read this more modern day alternative history book, but it was excellent!
I've read reviews where people say the main character Victor/Brother/alias is wooden, however I felt his character was very real and well constructed - someone who had been through the worst of everything and was still in a living hell after a quick snatch of freedom.
