I didn't really know what to expect with Watership Down - I've never watched the movie and have just heard through the years that it was about rabbits and it was pretty intense. My husband actually made a face when I told him what I was listening to and said "I was way too young when I watched that movie" and shuddered. So I was a little skeptical.

Thus book is amazing. It is not a cuddly bunny story. Yes, the characters ARE rabbits but they don't do human things as humans do. They do things as rabbits do, which is what makes this book so unique. Open your mind and settle in for a wonderful adventure.
