Edit: October 17, congratulations to Ishiguro on his Nobel prize! Well deserved I think.

If asked to give a synopsis of this book it would no doubt sound like quite a boring read, however it is anything but.

An ageing butler takes a road trip (apparently his first) and reminisces about his life serving a Lord during the years between the world wars. This book found my softest place and kept punching and punching me and punching me over and over again and then when I thought it couldn’t get worse suddenly it found a SOFTER SPOT that I didn’t even know was THERE to punch and punch and punch and punch
