So consumingly sad that the ending left me in tears. Perhaps a bit slow, sometimes - but isn’t this the price to pay for the miracle of ishiguro’s prose? A Nobel well deserved.

Stevens is a wonderfully drawn character, and the scenes are exceedingly detailed.
