I read this back in 1999 and had no idea what was going on!
Revisiting in 2023 and I expect to have more fully formulated opnions....

Does writing need to be daunting, exhausting, excessively verbose...to be excellent. Many lovely authors have achieved excellence without such ploys. Whew!

Ulyses is about as impenetrable book as one can find. If you can look past, or understand, the symbolism, the references to classic Greek literature, and the constant deviations from whatever passes for a plot then you may stand a chance of liking this book.
