A short 6 audio discs, this was a 'comfort' read, one I've read before, seen the film of many times, and just fancied something a little seasonal between some heavier reads.
I enjoyed this hugely, just as much as on previous reads, and reading it as an audiobook worked very well. The narrator is a wonderful Bridget and the diary format translates well to audio

I enjoyed this book much more than I ever thought I would. I've never seen the movie, but heard that it was cheesy. So, I started this book with unjustified bias.
I was hooked almost immediately. Although I am almost nothing like Bridget, I feel that we are very similar. Being able to relate to a character in a book makes the reading so much more enjoyable.
Of course this book isn't one of the "literary greats" that some have claimed, it is definitely high on the list of "guilty pleasure reads." ...more

I really wanted to hate this book because I wasn't a huge fan of the film but I couldn't put it down. I laughed out loud, like I was told I would and I turned the pages with a heavy heart when Bridget found out about Daniel. Of course, being a huge Jane Austen fan I couldn't help but compare Fieldings Mr Darcy to Austens Mr Darcy. They both come across as extremely rich, arrogant men but in the end come to rescue the heroines family from disgrace and shame.
