I remember loving this book when I was younger. I found a copy of it for $3.99 the other day and purchased it. Normally, I can read through books like this in a sitting or two but it took me a week to finish. The ideas are interesting, but not unique or original. The characters are cliche and boring. Glad I finally read it, this was written 80 years ago and could have been written today and I appreciate its genius and understand why it made such an impact at that time. That being said, in my opinion the characters were unlikeable, phrases were repetitive and some huge chunks were boring.
O brave new world! Beautiful book that truly reflects the insanity in our current world even though it was written a hundred years ago!
Interesting that the author could imagine such a radical future scientifically and yet the people in power are all white males, while the women, although removed from the burden of motherhood, are merely worker bees and sex objects. I wonder if Huxley had insight into his own conditioning.
