This was certainly a long walk, and I 'read' some of the chapters as audio books while tooling around in the car, while jogging, while doing housework etc. -- an activity I can only recommend, as, when read well, as by a certain voice actor by the name of Bohlton, I believe, whose recordings I found online, free of charge, the effect of the text is positively augmented. How does one rate someone like Dickens? It baffles me every time.
Finished! Mammoth task, 28 audio discs but a very well told and gripping story. Lots of minor characters you recognise from future incarnations, a slimy villain in Uriah Heep and the fascinating evolution of David and his love life from innocent boy with crushes to adult man with responsibilities and real love. Great Dickens.
