What Members Thought
I read this with my 9th grade students and I found it to be pretty average. I think that this book being taught today has the destructive potential to portray racial problems in America in overly obvious terms and therefore stamp out the inequalities that still exist today. In today's reality, racial problems are more nuanced and subtle than TKAM's times. A new TKAM talking about the disproportionate jailing of Black and Brown men needs to arise in public schools. Also, Atticus is a badass.

timeless classic, told from the perspective of an innocent child about many important life lessons
I think this will forever be my favourite book.
