Starting the year with a classic is not a good idea.
It took me such a long time to actually start enjoying this book! But once I got into it, it went quite fast.
What I really liked about the book was Jane remained the same throughout, there was no makeovers (like they show in the movies).
What I didn’t like about the book was that it was too depressing right from beginning to end. You keep hoping for things to get better for her but they don’t. Though the fact that Jane and Mr Rochester got tog ...more

Although assigned to read for school I found it really interesting, admirable, climactic and surprisingly relatable...unputdownable at times.. needless to say I've learned a lot - Jane's a fiery character, she encounters life-changing struggles, displays marvellous qualities of integrity...Bronte is herself a fantastic writer on all fronts - I felt like I knewJane by the end of the novel, and the is hardly owing to the fact it's a first person narrative.
