So after reading Obsidian, Jennifer was nice enough to write an extra with Daemon's point of view of a couple of awesome chapters that was at the end in my nook. I gotta say, this was more exciting than reading Obsidian. I have always been in favor of stories being in the guys' POV, I feel we get more out of it than in the girl's perspective. Oh. My. God. Never thought I would love ten pages so much!! Best. Ten. Pages. Of. My. Life!!! This just in: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Daemon, so back off, Katy!!! Haha, JK. I think I would have liked Obsidian a hell of a lot more than I already do if Armentrout included Daemon's POV's. Can't wait for the release of Onyx. People, you have got to read this one, especially the Obsidian fans. SOO WORTH IT!!!!

This is going to be a short review.

My actual rating for this book is 3.5, but since I'm feeling generous today, I'm rating this four stars. I adored this book a lot, and I think this a worthy YA novel. I truly love Jennifer L. Armentrout! Her work and books are always well-written, worthy of hype, and include amazing characters and a brilliant storyline. I loved Katy, because I thought that she was relatable and fairly likeable. I adored Dee the most out of all of the other characters, though. She was a perfect best friend, and I can see her vulnerable, loveable, and protective side that she showed for the people in her life. I also like Daemon, although I will admit that at times he could be a dickhead. While on the first 100 pages of Obsidian, I wasn't quite warming up to him. I didn't think that anything that Armentrout did could make me turn my dislike for him turn into love, but I was pleasantly wrong. He grew on me. I can see perfectly clearly why he would have feelings for Katy. You readers can all tell that he's really an amazing and sweet guy under that mask he wears everyday to keep people out of his heart. I liked the other characters in this book, as well. One of my favorite things about Obsidian is Daemon and Katy's bickering. I loved their love/hate relationship. It was amusing, but at times, it was also touching. :)

This novel had lots of good points, but there is one huge flaw that I can't overlook. I do not blame the people who thinks that this was a Twilight rip-off, because in some ways, I can see their point. Book-nerd chick moves into a new town, meets sexy but asshat of a boyfriend and his clan, and finds out that they are a totally different species and possesses powers and talents. I blame Twilight for ruining YA paranormal fiction for me, but even the number one Obsidian fan have to agree with me. Luckily, that is where the comparisons end for me, and I don't hold the plagiarism against this book. I'm just saying that it could have been better if it had some originality.

I'm itching to read the next book in the series now! I admire Armentrout's writing style, and I want to see where Katy's story will head off now. I can't wait to see what will happen with her and Daemon. Their relationship is like the highlight of my like right now! I always had a thing for hot sexy guys chasing after the girl, and I believe that is what Daemon will do in the next book. Can't wait for it!! :D ...more

So...Aliens, who knew?

Can I just start off by saying that this is probably my favorite book I have read this year and is DEFINITELY one of my top 10 favorite books of all time!

I was a little hesitant to read this book at first because i didn't know how I would feel about the whole alien thing. When I think aliens, I think E.T., not Daemon Black (well not anymore). Turns out, I LOVED it! I have so many good things to say about this book I have no idea where to start. I feel like it would be much easier to just make a (long) list of all the things I liked, but here you go.

Katy Swartz and her mom pack up and leave sunny Florida to start over in West Virginia. From the start I immediately love Katy. She is a book blogger (like me!) and is passionate about books (hey, like me!). She is witty and smart and doesn't take nay of Daemon's b.s.

Daemon Black is a HOT alien living next door to Katy. He doesn't socialize with humans very well and he is super over-protective of his twin sister Dee. From the start he tries (very hard) to push away Katy by being a jerk in the hopes that she will not become friends with his sister. But Katy doesn't back down and Katy and Dee end up becoming really close friends which means Katy and Daemon have to spend a lot of time together.

I LOVED Dee! When I first read that Daemon had a twin sister I immediately assumed she was gonna be a bitch to Katy, but she was so nice. It was hard not to love her.

The book has a lot of action and sexual tension. It had me hooked right from the very first page and this is probably the first book that I DIDN'T want to end. Usually when I read good books I want to get to the end so I can know what happens, but I wanted this book to go on and on. As I was reading I kept thinking, "Oh no, only 100 more pages!" The good thing is that I don't need to wait a whole year for Onyx. June can't come fast enough for me. I need more Katy, Daemon and Dee!

I have a feeling I'm totally going to throttle someone if the second attachment doesn't come out soon. Possibly my boyfriend. It's all his fault, I don't know why or how, but it usually is. I NEED MORE.
I like the tension between Daemon e Katy. I love Dee, totally, she's so much of my BF, it's scary. I like the whole alien thing, too. I like the whole of it. It was an awesome read. Maybe not the best in these last months, or in the next ones, but it was fantastic. I like sci-fi, I'm totally nuts ...more

Wow, incredible book. I loved every minute of it. Jennifer did an amazing job with every detail of this story. When I first heard about it my first thought was, really aliens? don't like already but boy was I wrong.
Daemon is the best character. He is crazy hot but a jerk. Katy gets to see glimpses of his sweet side and that's more than enough to make you swoon. Katy is a sweet blogger (wooop woop) with an attitude. She doesn't take anyone's crap, especially Daemon's. The combination of those tw ...more

"wow aliens!"

This the 1st time I read about aliens.
And what can I say I love it!
When I was young I love the x-files and the x files was a hit.
I never believe that aliens ever exist but, if they are like daemon and how he was described with the alien moos and being a ball of light then, aliens can exist. Il I've how the author described the aliens and I love how she imagined them.

The plot was so cool!
And I love every word, letter. Sentence of it.

It’s the summer before Katy’s senior year and her mom decides it is time to start over. Her dad died 3 years ago and her mom has never been the same, so maybe this move is a good thing. They head to West Virginia to a town that has a grand total of one stop light. Katy is trying to stay positive and when she sees her new neighbor she thinks that maybe the move might not be so bad after all, until she actually talks to him. Daemon is a total jerk!!!! He instantly acts like he hates Katy and it j It’s the summer before Katy’s senior year and her mom decides it is time to start over. He instantly acts like he hates Katy and it just goes downhill from there, but surprisingly his twin sister Dee is a polar opposite, she and Katy become fast friends. Soon Katy finds out that the twins are aliens from a plant called Lux. Because Dee wants Daemon and Katy to get along she forces them to hang out more often which turns into a disaster and leaves Katy marked. Being marked by a Luxen is never a good thing for a human. It basically turns them into a light beam that attracts any nearby Arum. Arum are the alien arch enemies of the Luxen. They have no respect for human life and will kill them for the fun of it. They are always looking for the luxens, so they can drain their power from them. If you happen to be an unlucky human who has been marked and an Arum finds you they will torture you to try and get the location of the Luxen that marked you. So now it isn't safe for Katy to be alone, and Daemon feels that it is his responsibility to protect her till the mark fade which could be weeks. Great now Katy is stuck with the insufferable, but totally hot Daemon Black.

This book was so much fun to read. The love/hate relationship between Daemon and Katy is fun and entertaining. Katy has tons of spice and attitude. She totally holds her own against the drop dead gorgeous Daemon. She is easy to like and I connected with her instantly. Another fun tidbit about Katy is that she is an avid reader and a book blogger :)!!! I totally loved her character and thought she made the perfect heroine!!!

Daemon is one of those guys that you wish you could stare at (or read about) all day long. He has killer green eyes, wavy black hair and a great body to go with his smokin looks! e also has a wonderful attitude to add to the whole package, but at the same time he does have some very endearing qualities as well. He is so devoted to his sister and would do anything for her, even be nice to Katy. Katy and Daemons relationship is so full of tension and attraction it totally draws you in. Daemon is so hot and cold that you actually feel frustrated for poor Katy.

Suffice to say I loved this book. The plot was action packed and really intriguing The relationships were well developed and so fun. The characters had attitude and great personalities. Jennifer did such an amazing job. This was my first alien book and I will defiantly be reading more if they are anything like this! If you haven't read anything by Jennifer Armentrout yet I would highly recommend you start I have loved all of her books so far. Obsidian is just one of those books that you can't put down and when you are finished you keep thinking about it for days!!! ...more

Reading from a guy's POV is always interesting. Then reading from Daemon's POV???? Wow. Loved it! Made me feel so sorry for him. He deserves happiness...hope we get to read more tid-bits from his perspective

Jennifer L. Armentrout is a very entertaining author. All of her books have realistic characters that are relatable. That is what I love about all of her novels so far.

This book is AWESOME! I love every word in there, especially heated words that were exchanged between Katy and Daemon. Especially Daemon. Every time he said something, I would either laugh, smile, tear up, and feel my heart ache. He is so adorable and badass all at once. The chemistry between Katy and Daemon was off the charts, and I love it so much! I will definitely reread this to satisfy my Daemon need until Onyx comes out!
