What Members Thought

Eileen
Sweeping story of four generations of women, starting and ending in Ireland, with a brief time in the United States and Canada. Loved the letter written by Emily that never reached its destination. The letter, never opened until the end of the book, represents the hopes and dreams of all the characters in the book. Beautiful! I did feel at times, the book was overwritten, the busy and beautiful prose did not always do much to advance the story.

McCann is such a remarkable storyteller. I liked this book very much, but not as much as Let the Great World Spin.
