This is a mediocre legal thriller about crooks robbing other crooks, with very old Hollywood clichés to keep the preposterous story moving.
I haven't read Grisham in years but he hasn't lost a thing. His writing is smooth, comfortable and moves you along like a gentle wave. Normally there would be a storm or two to give you heart palpitations and shortness of breath. Not the case in this story. It moved from A-Z steadily, keeping you reading, a tiny bit tense and marveling at the inventiveness of this man's mind. I think I need to put him back on my list.
