Some serious time has passed since I last read this novel, and I didn't have overtly fond memories of my earlier experiences with this story.
So, I wanted to give it another shot.
THANK GOD I did.
I adored it this time around, picking up on the subtle nuances and parallel story lines that I've missed in the past.

The writing style is beautiful. My problem is that I didn't like any of the characters. I just didn't care. The story is supposed to represent the downfall of the illusions of the American Dream. Nobody cared beyond the superficial (except Nick maybe but he was too passive) and their lives were empty. I just wish it was a bit more hopeful. I'll read it again when I'm older.
