For some reason I wasn't expecting much from this book other than some laughs and I was very pleasantly surprised - Mindy Kaling is funny and intelligent, as expected, but also clever, charming and very kind. I wish she was my friend and I hope my kid likes hanging out with me when he is a teenager as much as she did her parents! Very recommended.

Fun book, I liked Mindy's good girl approach to life - and admired that her high school self didn't feel the need to compete with others. Her humor is under-stated and made me want to go check out all her references to work done by herself & others. She seems very down to earth and I appreciated her self confidence! ...more

I enjoyed this. I'm a fan of the Office and the Mindy Project. She's a funny girl, though I didn't find myself laughing out loud reading this. Actually, it was more interesting than funny. I very much appreciated her point that she started off a quiet, respectful kid, and ended up in a pretty good spot. Also, she works her ass off. Nothing landed in her lap. This is the first book I've read on my Kindle Fire! I felt like I had to start reading this book because I was getting down as I read Columbine and wanted to read something "guaranteed" to be funny.

This book was cute, about what I expected. It wasn't as funny as Tina Fey's memoir (But honestly, what other memoir would be? I kid.), but I feel like it's unfair to compare them. I really enjoyed this book. So many moments reminded me of my youth. Mindy is a great writer and really holds your attention while making you smile---> read it!
