I enjoyed the random stories in this book quite a bit. It may have something to do with my career as a software engineer, but nonetheless I think most people would be amused by many of the stories.
I don't think the point of the book is for him to convince people that he did no wrong. He obviously knows that what he's doing is wrong but that he has an addiction that he's having trouble breaking. Am honest, if at times self-serving account of Mitnick's hacking career. Interesting for those into the true crime stories, or for techies.
