Oh man, I've been meaning to read this book for years, and I finally got around to it not a moment too soon. This memoir is equal parts devastating, heart-warming, cathartic, and agonizingly depressing. Jeannette led quite the adventurous life. It surprised me to find myself sometimes (not often, but sometimes)envying her life. Her parents were always ready to pull up stakes and move on when things (like payments due) demanded it. Her parents were certainly ecclectic, but so knowledgeable. Walls writes concisely and without self-pity--the result is an incredible memoir of a sympathetic storyteller. I couldn't put it down--I had to find out what would happen next.
