This was an interesting look at how doctors are taught to think about patients and disease processes and how the realities of a business of practicing medicine can affect their thinking. The stories told demonstrate the necessity of patients sometimes question their doctors' conclusions about their health issues especially when treatment is not working and gives some advice on how to go about doing that without alienating the doctor. And sometimes it is necessary to seek another opinion.

Pressure from insurance companies mean doctors need to see many patients to afford a practice. This means juggling hundreds of individuals and limiting visits to less than 15 minutes. Easily identified issues are identified with these kinds of visits. Some doctors know within seconds the diagnosis, only order tests to confirm, and ignore minor evidence to the contrary.
