Again, somewhat embarrassing that I read this. The one was a particularly guilty pleasure as it was not as engrossing or funny (although I'm not sure how much of the humor of the first one was intentional). I hear that the next two are a bit better, and I look forward to reading them. In the privacy of my own home, and apparently on my Goodreads feed. Oh well...

I have to admit that I am entranced by this series, primarily for the storyline. But as eager as I am to get more of the story, this book slowed me down from the pace I was on in Twilight. For hundreds of pages the story seemed to go nowhere and instead the reader was forced to recount Bella's pain and memories far too often instead of seeing her learn to live again.

I read this one immdiately following the first book. I found this one to meet all the expectations of a "sophomore slump." It dragged on with Bella's depression and friendship with Jacob. I found myself sighing with irritation and wishing the whole story line would just move on! There was still the use of cliched phrases and ideas, dramatic reactions, and the sort that made me remember what teens are like. (Sorry teens but it's true.)

I enjoyed this book, but not as much as Twilight. The series is a good/fun/addicting one and even though I don't completely go along with Bella's all-inclusive love of Edward it's definitely another page turner.
p.s. I really liked the character of Jacob. I didn't want Bella to wind up with him, or basically "settle" or learn to love him, I think he is a good guy who truly cares for her and it is hard to see him so hurt by her decisions. ...more

My least favorite of the series. (I really didn't like even the IDEA that Bella would choose Jacob over Edward).

I didn't care for the first few chapters, but from chapter 5 on it was an enjoyable read.
