I know, I know, lately it seems that I've been fixated on dead presidents (and a new book about the assassination of James Garfield has just been published--don't worry, I'm on it) so Sarah Vowell's Assassination Vacation was just the book for me. It's a road trip to lots and lots of locations associated with the three assassinated presidents chosen by Vowell--Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley. Literally, I couldn't put this book down. Another set of themed essays by Sarah Vowell, this group about presidential assassinations (Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley).

I'd give it 3.5 stars, so rounded up to 4. It wasn't Great, but it was enjoyable. It was a good read, interesting stuff, plus I did learn a lot, laughed some, and "ewww"ed a few times.

I'll admit it, I loves me a breezy, anecdotal history book. And no one does anecdotal history like Sarah Vowell. This book made me want to see Assassins and wander D.C. looking at memorials. Great stuff. ...more

Actually listened to this as an audiobook and thoroughly enjoyed it. Love the connections Ms. Vowell can draw between seemingly distant historical events!
