This is a fine book, but there's SO much more backstory than I expected that sometimes I felt like I was just treading water, and not getting to the actual main story of the book.
However, the main story was good. I hadn't heard about the Candy Bombers until the author was on The Colbert Report promoting this book, and the book gives a ton of info about the blockade in Germany and the airlifts that got food (including candy) and other supplies to the people in Berlin after WWII. ...more
