Really, really heavy - centers around a young black girl living in Oakland, CA whose father died, mom is in jail and has a brother who dreams of being a Rap star. In order to keep a roof over her and her brother's heads she stumbles into prostitution and is subsequently abused by some of the local cops. How does a 17 year old think of writing such? A few years before she started writing, there was a similar news piece.
