Interesting memoir of a black woman who was adopted by a white family, met her birth (white) mom when she was 11 and much later her black biographical father. Her adoptive parents raise her without any references to blackness, her biological mother denigrates the biological father whenever possible... It seems miraculous Carroll turns out as well as she does. I was very involved in the book.
