There's a lot to like in this book and a little to get lost in. Perhaps if I was a lot younger I would appreciate rap and the language of the young people in this book. I did appreciate a teenagers angst and tying to be adult to help her 8-year-recovering-drug-addiction mother who loses her job. At one point the home has no gas/heat, later there is little to eat, the final home trouble is when the electric is shut off. None of this really mounts to anything in a neighborhood where gang ...more
