An impressive and admiring look at two impressive and admirable men, Wilbur and Orville Wright. I knew about the December 17, 1903, flight at Kitty Hawk but I'd had no idea about the events of the 7 years following, especially the amazing year Wilbur spent in Europe, mostly France. I've long loved David McCullough's choice of historical figures to write about, this one has to be at the top of the pile of his books. My opinion IS prejudiced by state pride. That is even intensified by living within an easy drive of the sites in Ohio where the planning and building of the Wright Flyer took place.

Great book. McCullough is a historian for the people. I was reluctant to read this because I wasn't that interested in the topic, but I like McCullough, so I gave it a shot. The Wright Brothers were awesome. Dedicated and hard working. They really changed life on planet earth.
