This book is basically a long rant supported by anecdotes, but a lot of what he says rings true, down to the details of how universities disregard teaching (and therefore learning, but also quality research--because so much "scholarship" is pressured publish-or-perish pishposh). The themes relate to all kinds of other problems throughout society, like wealth inequality and all that entails. There are important charges in this manifesto that should be discussed more and dealt with.
