Matt Taibbi tells tales of the huddled masses who he feels have been mistreated by the systems that we call the government. Some of those are treated like criminals and are evidently considered guilty until proven innocent. These include people whose "crimes" include being black, being on assistance, being an immigrant (some documented), or a whistle blower.

This book will infuriate you. Matt Taibbi is an incredible investigative journalist, and his in-depth look at individual criminal cases, from NYC bogus stop-and-frisk arrests to widespread fraud at Wall Street banks, is very insightful. The fact that there's effectively a separate justice system for the rich and the poor shouldn't surprise anyone, but Taibbi artfully shows how this gap has grown to ridiculous proportions.
