I nearly always enjoy prison stories, not sure exactly why, but there it is. And this was no exception. Such a sad but awesome story... but do take the time to read the Coda at the end! That's really changed my perception of it so much and brought it back up to a five for me after the sad end. ...more

This book is not for everyone. It's probably not for most, but if you like dark books and want to have your boundaries pushed, Protection is a must-read. It's well written, the storyline shocked me, pulled me in, and left me in a bit of an emotional mess. I personally felt the Coda was unnecessary and detracted a bit from the book, so I'm just going to pretend it wasn't there. ...more

HELL OF A RIDE!

I'm actually at a loss on how to review this. I'm still recovering from finishing the book.

This was really nice! It was what I wanted!
Thank you Eleonor for recommending this!

I liked the story. I liked the plot. I liked the characters.
Gabriel is one of those sexy motherfucker romantic heroes. Unapologetic and I love it. I also liked Joey especially on how he come on terms with his relationship with Gabe.

This story will stay with me for a

A beautifully written historical prison romance set in Britain three years before WWII. Despite the short length of the story, the abuser-to-lover transition was accomplished in a surprisingly convincing and realistic way. The heart-breaking moments were unforgettable, as were the sweet, tender loving moments. I jumped into this without knowing (view spoiler), but I loved the whole journey nonetheless. ...more

Gabriel MacKenna is a man hardened by the shit that life has thrown at him. A double murder lands him prison where he does what he needs to survive. He is a ruthless man, one that lives by his own creed. He has is own type of compassion and sense of justice. Joey Cooper is sweet and compassionate, a man willing to stand up for himself and what he believes in. A man in prison through no fault of his own. His initiation into this new life is far from being smooth sailing when he crosses paths with ...more
