This book took some turns I didn't like, but I understood. There were some revelations that were not a surprise at all, and others that shouldn't have been. The clues were laid out in the first book and continued in this one, I just missed them. I didn't like how many secrets Celaena kept from Chaol. She obviously loves him and he has proven trustworthy, but she refuses to trust him. I realize he is loyal to the king, but at every turn he has proven more loyal to her. We'll see what he does now ...more

A huge step up from THRONE OF GLASS in every way. I loved this book. The plot, world, and characters are deepened. The intrigue and romance are heightened. I couldn't put it down. Its Lord of the Rings meets Graceling. ...more
