What Members Thought

If book one was all about setting up the chess board and putting the chess pieces on the board, than this book is all about playing the game. With the competition over and Celeana having been named as the king's champion at the conclusion of the previous book, the field is now clear for Maas to really start digging into the story and where she's going to go with everything. This book took some turns I didn't like, but I understood. There were some revelations that were not a surprise at all, and others that shouldn't have been. The clues were laid out in the first book and continued in this one, I just missed them. I didn't like how many secrets Celaena kept from Chaol. She obviously loves him and he has proven trustworthy, but she refuses to trust him. I realize he is loyal to the king, but at every turn he has proven more loyal to her. We'll see what he does now

Lots of pages but more action earn this one an extra star. I'm excited to see where this goes in book 3. The ball is rolling...
