I would actually give this 4 and a half stars. It's very, very good. I have to admit it took me a long time to read it. First, it's a big book and I'm a slow reader and second I kind of put it off on purpose. It's not that I don't love this series, I just knew it would take a lot out of me. I was kind of upset after the first book (Daughter of Smoke and Bone), I LOVED Karou so much and to find out her secret and Brimstone's secret as well kind of bothered me. This was a great ending to the series. There is enough left open at the end that more stories could be told or a spinoff series could be written. I would love that. In this book Karou is finally starting to forgive Akiva, but is it too late for them to be together? Will they even get a chance to start over? Will they even survive to try? I absolutely loved this series. Great characters and an engrossing storyline that's beautifully and wonderfully written. I enjoyed getting to know Zuzanna's character more in this book, as well as Mik's. So many good developments and growth in characters.
