This was the first Stephenie Meyer book I started reading, and I thought it was so good. Then I put it down for whatever reason and read Twilight. I thought Twilight was really good! Then I went back The Host and didn't think this was so good, so it took me a while to finish it. I don't have anything to point out that I didn't like about it, though. I read this book while on vacation at my moms. And I liked it. It's typical Stephanie Meyer fashion of forbidden romance. But its more like X-Files version of forbidden romance. Easy read, though I don't expect to read this one again. ...more

I wanted to like this book more that I did. The story just dragged on for me. I liked the descriptions of the way the Humans lived, the way they survived. It was interesting to think about what makes us human, and what makes a soul unique and special.
