I pretty much started skimming the book after a hundred pages. I can't believe I even made it that far! It's so bad that it has brought me out of my reviewing shell to say how much I disliked this book.

This rating is tentative. Because you don't really know much after the first book. You know a few bits and pieces and left with a million questions, which I hope will be answered with the next book. The thing that bothers me about ya romance is how they are just "in love" you never really find out the why or the how. I'm hoping the rest of the series will get into this. I'm also disappointed by the protagonist, why are they always weak and passive females? And the men are the strong guiding ligh

Not the most original story I've ever read but I did enjoy Kate's use of religious archetypes as a backbone for her novel's mythology. Luce is a great well rounded character although I did have issues with her seemingly random obsession with Daniel. While I know the whole point of the story is that they are meant to be together, I have trouble believing they are really in love (it's all a little too Bella and Edward for me).
