I still think her style is depressing, and I can't seem to love the lead characters as I should, I just don't find them very easy to understand. Weak cowering woman like this book, or strong to the point of crazy as in Graceling. Whatever. I enjoyed the read well enough, but would not read it again. Some books I can read over and over, and this is just not one of them.

I thought Graceling was an excellent book until I read Bitterblue! It is amazing, I can't say enough how much I enjoyed this book. Cashore has cemented herself as one of the top fantasy writers ever with this novel.

Took me awhile to get through this one. I really liked when the pace picked up through the detective style investigations, and the motivation Bitterblue had to solve the mysteries around her. However, the rest of the book was a slow read, and lacking in the excitement and high stakes of the other two. Bitterblue is an interesting character, but doesn't have enough to do to make her a dynamic one.
