I loved this book and can't wait to read the next book. I like that it had some mystery with fantasy and it had romance. Three of my favorite genres in one book, you can't go wrong with that genre blend :)

I love the magic that Signa had. She could detect poisons and they wouldn't kill her. She went to live with her family after an awful aunt died. Signa had this knack for calling Death to her. I wish this book had pushed a little bit further. It had the makings of something great, but didn’t quite get there. I expected a romance and got a mystery—my own fault perhaps, though it is billed as a “new adult romance”. There is a reason why, yes, though I think it was held back.

I found the book slow and the mystery both easy to guess and needlessly confusing. There were many lapses, some answered in the end, some not. The stakes were a bit odd and unrealistic, as though they didn’t add up. ...more
