As a child and teenager, I always found fantasy novels intimidating. Fantasies boast not only an entirely new vocabulary, but books rivaling the Bible in size. I mean, if a librarian is daunted by Eragon’s heft, imagine a reluctant twelve year old! That’s why I was so happy to learn that Margaret Rogerson’s An Enchantment of Ravens weighs in at a (very) reasonable 304 pages. Finally a novel that makes fantasy accessible to the masses!
