This was a wonderful, epic fairytale based on Russian legend and lore. Vasilisa is a wonderful character, a wild thing they often call her, who tends to the spirits guarding their house and learns to talk to horses. She and her family live away from the city, and the rules and restrictions of Christianity, until Vasilisa's father remarries the devout Anna who can also see the house spirits like Vasilisa, except she calls them devils.
