I started this book 2 times before and never could get into it but this time I was in a better frame of mind. I really enjoyed this book. I love how it built and built to the ending and how well it all came together. I love the plot twist and at the very end. I kept thinking I knew who was committing the murders and then I would be wrong. For me I love that when it happens that way.

I love the world and that it took place in New Orleans which is the perfect setting for a vampire book. I love New ...more

I have heard mixed reviews about this one so I went into this story with low expectations. I have to say that The Beautiful has me entranced. I loved it! Selene is the type of character that I enjoy reading. I am a sucker for this kind of insta-love. I could not stop reading once I started. It was everything I needed and I will be impassionately waiting for the next one.

I wasn't sure what to think of this book due to the rather mixed reviews I'd read. I think some people were expecting more of an Anne Rice-like vampire tale, but I don't generally like vampire stories, so I noticed the differences in the description that made it sound different than that to me (despite the bad marketing campaign to make it seem such). The world and the romance here felt very undeveloped, and it was just such a slog to get through by about 50%. The big reveal at the end was underwhelming.
