Beautiful, evocative language and relationships, but the ending was a disappointment. 3.5/5.

The beginning of this book was enthralling and the perfect amount of grim and gore. I enjoyed the strong themes of friendship and chosen family while also seeing interconnecting relationships between the girls chosen groups at the school.

Love the cover art, and even though this isn't really my genre, I had high hopes. It started out entertaining, but the lack of character and plot development was weird to me. I was anticipating more from the story, especially the ending. Yikes. Now that it looks like it'll be a series, I'm thinking that maybe we'll get a little deeper in book 2.
