I really enjoyed this. The creeping around planning the rebellion of it all.

The what if she's caught? Who'll be put to death next? The mysteriousness of it all.

Ash Princess Theodosia is no a prisoner in her own country used as a punishment to her own people.

She's witness her mother the Queen be killed by a King that wants her throne.

Now Theo must obey or be whipped or even killed. As her own people are rebelling she's the one to suffer for their disobedience.

Interesting book. It leaves off with air of uncertainty. I know what Theo will try to do but so many variables were introduced in this first book, it'll be harder to predict the outcome of book 2.

I really liked this book. My biggest critique however was that Theo's turning point, though poignant, was too rushed for me to truly buy it. It may have been better had she just been a tough, hardcore plotting queen from the start. ...more
