What Members Thought

I’m a newbie to Audiobooks, so, admittedly, I don’t have a lot to compare this book to; however, this was an absolutely STUNNING was to experience an amazing and powerful book. I LOVE this novel! It is real and very much true to what has been going on in our nation. The main character, Starr, is just like any other teenage girl in America. She grew up loving Harry Potter and the Jonas Brothers. She grew up living in a rough part of the city with drug dealers and gangs running around, but she attends mostly white private school on the other side of the city. Throughout the novel Starr is trying to combine her two lives without it all crashing in on her.

I enjoyed this book. The plot had a lot of depth and felt more "real" than a recent book that I read that covered similar subject matter. Thomas gets her point across well, while making sure to clarify that she does not think all members of a specific group are "the bad guy". The characters were easily likable and I'm glad that the love interest didn't turn out to be a douchebag. This story is highly relevant to what is going on in America today.
