I enjoyed watching Lia and Rafe try to survive in Venda. They both had to play the game just right if they wanted to stay alive. Kaden tried his hardest to control a situation that he just couldn't contain. The Komizar is the most dangerous of all. Lia just has to try to beat him. As Rafe and his men try to plan an escape for them, Lia has to play the Komizar's game. If only she knew what he was up to exactly. It is a very dangerous line they all walk. Crack. that must be what I was smoking last year when I read and rated this 4 stars.

after a reread and I guess no crack, I can CLEARLY see this is an amazing 5 star book.

OMG that ending. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE say my girl Lia end up with the guy I like best. my heart (of betrayal, see what I did there) may not be able to take it if not.

Oh my goodness! The ending of this book killed me. The entire thing was sooo good. I liked the first book but this one totally sucked me in. I loved the Vendan history the Leah discovered throughout. I loved the subtle magic/the gift. I loved Aster. All the characters were so well developed. Such an awesome addition to the fantasy genre. Well done, Ms. Pearson. I'm a fan. ...more
