I would have enjoyed this far more if it was an ACTUAL book.

This is a play script with the plot revolving around Harry Potter's middle son, Albus, -- like, literally, you barely see or hear about his other two children -- and his best friend, who is none other than Draco Malfoy's offspring, Scorpius. The two young boys go after dangerous adventures, involving even Voldemort.

A nostalgic return to the Harry Potter world
I thoroughly enjoyed 'Harry Potter and the Cursed Child'! Taking place over 20 years after the events of the last Harry Potter book, it mostly follows the events of Harry and Ginny's son, Albus. While there are one or two moments I found slightly questionable (plot-wise), I could not put this book down. I would love to see it in the theatre, if for no other reason than to see how the magic is brought to life. ...more

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a play that gives us a glimpse into what happened after the Harry Potter Books ended. Here we see where Harry, Ron, and Hermione ended up and we get to go on more adventures with them...and their children.
I really enjoyed this book. I have read a few plays in the past but not too many. I was worried reading this format would take me out of the story, but it never did.
If you're a Harry Potter fan, this is definitely a story for you.

Can I just say it is good and bad at the same time? It is a play, so there is less to read. And the it feels we don't get to know James and Lily and Rose...

Really more of a 3.5/5 for me, but I'm rounding up. Many have told me or I've read it reads like fan fiction and they are right. It seems odd that Rowling really had much to do with this one. I will say that it was an enjoyable couple of hours it didn't feel like a Potter book. Maybe it was the play format, maybe it was just the age of the characters we all know and love. Anyway, it is worth it to read.

Okay so it wasn't the story form that I like but I absolutely loved the characterizations. It could have done more with some of the side characters like more Weasleys but all and all it was relatively good.
