I kept going back and forth on if I should read this play and finally did it. I wanted to like it and wanted to feel like the story continued but I kept feeling like I was reading fan fiction. The dialog is very stilted and the story doesn't flow with the same ease of the original HP books. I even feel as though some of the characters themselves had been compromised. There were moments when I felt there was something good going on but the feel of the book just never set in for me.

JK Rowling is a genius when it comes to creating atmosphere, plot and characters. When you see a production of a play it is the set, lighting, sound and effects that creates the world and it is the actors who create the emotion behind the characters. This is a script, it is the bare bones dialogue and plot that the production's creators used to create the world of the play.
