As someone who suffers from bipolar disorder, this novel hit a little too close to home for me. Would I give up my memories if it makes the pain go away? I honestly don't know if I would. Memories mean a lot. They're what makes us who we are, even though they can often bring us a great deal of pain and suffering. Sometimes, that pain can be almost unbearable, and the author did a great job illustrating that when she talked about the suicides in this novel. I could connect all too well with Sloan ...more

While I enjoyed this book more than I thought I would--I liked the characters and I found it to be very readable--I couldn't help but think that the structure of the book would have been better backwards. In other words, leave it to the mystery of the reader what happened to Sloane and James. By telling their whole story first and then having them piece it back together felt sort of redundant.
