This one was really good! I was looking for something a bit different in YA and saw a description of this - time traveling to Victorian London and it caught my eye. The cover is better on some of the other versions, this one is a little boring to me but the book is very cute and the characters are engaging. Long story short - an average 16 yr old girl who likes gossip, clothes, boys and hanging out with friends is part of an extraordinary family, one who can travel in time. Gwen has known all he ...more

I really enjoyed Ruby Red (which is an Addicted to YA January 2014 Book of the Month). For current young adult fiction, it seems to feel different. This could be because it was originally written in German. Regardless, it lacks that sweaty, gritty sheen of many American YA reads and feels almost...wholesome? If one can be wholesome while running swords through people...

This was such a dang fun book! It didn't learn any life lessons from it, but it sure was a fun teeny bopper novel. Gwyneth lives in a family that carries a gene that allows for time travel. During the last sixteen years her cousin has been believed to be the carrier of this gene, but is disppontedly mistaken when Gwyneth disappears on her way to the corner shop to by her crazy great-aunt sherbet-lemons.
